The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has set down
a standard for registration of Fuels for On-Road use (these are fuels that are used in motor vehicles and trucks that
travel on the nations roads and highways). In order to legally sell a fuel for use on-road it must be registered and
approved by the EPA. The EPA requires "Proof" that a fuel meets the AATSM Standard for the Motor Fuel or Motor Fuel
additive before they will approve it. This standard for BioDiesel is "ATSM STD D-6751".
Adherence to and exceeding this standard will do more
than ten "voluntary" BQ-9000 certification plans. Don't get me wrong, the BQ-9000 Certification Program will undoubtedly
do wonders in building consumer confidence. But a voluntary certification that costs money is not going to get the
small independent BioDiesel producers to clean-up their act. the ones who have are the silent minority - and I
wholeheartedly applaud them.
If you doubt my words - consider this: The major
Car/Truck Manufacturers have done a flip=flop on the BioDiesel issue. Sure you can use BioDiesel in theat Ford F-250
Diesel - But it will most likely "Void" your engine warranty. Why??? Because the major auto industry folks have seen
a spike in warranty issues and are pointing the fingers at the BioDiesel Industry. It isn't the "Whole" industry, it
is the ones not making spec fuel. If you talk with Oloff Hansen (U.S. EPA) you will clearly understand the problematic
issues. The EPA is not "anti-BioDiesl", and neither is the Auto Industry! What they are is "Anti Dirty Fuel"...
I have made it my mission to get the Bio Diesel producers
on-board, and to promote and encourage the use of alternative fuels as much as humanly possible. You might say that this
is "My Crusade".
Unfortunately, a crusade has never put groceries on the table.
So we consult and assist companies in building and developing Industry. At present I am wondering why we don't have Jatropha
Plantations in the United States? In India they are making alot more BioDiesel than we are (and I don't think they have near
as many hamburger restaurants and chineese fast food places there (even though they have alot more people). None the less,
we are trying to kick start a Jatropha industry right here in Arizona (United states, in North America for you out of country
folks).
If you are interested in helping with our Jatropha project
(or any of our projects) feel free to chime in and eMail us at AZBioFuels@phoenixcomputerlabs.com . We can always use more
heads, bodys, arms, and money (gotta have money - remember the grocery statement earlier).
Take care,
