We are currently developing an Electric Vehicle (EV) Conversion Shop business. An EV Conversion shop is organized to provide a comprehensive and reliable conversion of a vehicle that uses an Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) as a power plant to a vehicle that uses an Electric Motor and is rechargeable. This is an ecologically desirable vehicle for every day transportation. It doesn't burn fossil fuels so it does not pollute our atmosphere and does not contribute to global warming.
The ultimate goals are to develop and build at least three (3) shops in the United States:
1st - Phoenix, Arizona,
2nd - Tennessee or Kentucky,
3rd - Boston Massachusetts.
This is an intensive endeavor. There are many obstacles and a lot of research to make this a practical reality. Yes I am well aware that
there are a lot of EV enthusiasts and numerous Conversion Shops. But, have they actually mass produced anything? Are the costs dropping, or are these shops just one of a kind enterprises? We salute these pioneers and give them enormous credit for bringing this idea to a practical reality. Now it is time for Us to take this to the next level - EVs for everyone!
This web site is intended to provide technical support and Information so that everyone can understand this Electric Vehicle (EV) Conversion Process. Our ultimate goals may be to develop an EV Car Company, but we intend to add to the EV community as well. We will provide technical background Info as well as conversion details. Our Technical Info will include theory and practice so that eveyone can understand just what an EV conversion is and should be.
Current EV Conversions mentality is to just yank out the ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) and put an electric motor into and batteries to the vehicle. While this is a simplified approach there are many engineering details that fall short:
- - What are the new Geometry Characteristics, and can they be improved?
- - What are the additional safety concerns and hazards?
- - How can the vehicle be optimized for maximum handling, acceleration, and drive ability?
We believe that an EV Conversion should be just as drive able and reliable as the original ICE configuration. This means if the vehicle is used to drive back and forth to work, it should get the owner back and forth to work and be dependable. An EV owner should not be required to perform extensive maintenance and the EV should be relatively maintenance free. If the vehicle is used just to get around town - then it should do so, without having to stop and check the batteries at every stop..
What we do not believe that a current EV conversion is a do all replacement for your ICE vehicle (because the technology is not refined enough). Your EV Conversion will not:
1) Drive from New York to Los Angles non stop.
- Ans: - Get real!!! - Even an ICE vehicle has to stop to re-fuel. The EV must be recharged as well, it just takes 4-9 hours to do so.
2) Be totally maintenance free.
- Ans: Once again, let me remind you that all cars, trucks, and SUVs need maintenance. Note: EVs may not need their oil changed every 3,000 miles, but they do need to have their batteries and electrical connections checked and cleaned regularly.
